Iron Review: Titleist DCI

Titleist DCI - Though word is that Titleist is phasing out the popular 962 models for the new 990s, the core club design remains pretty much the same throughout the DCI series, and it is impressive. I recently purchased a set of the DCI 962s and could not be happier. These clubs will let you know how your game stacks up immediately. Good swings send the ball exactly where it is supposed to go, bad swings are often still on the green, though real bad swings mean grab the rake and walk or reach in your pocket and fire again. Without question, one of the top two or three models in the market today both in terms of quality and quantity. Again, a set designed for better golfers though many others see their favorite pro with this set and must have one for themselves. Mistake for anyone higher than a ten handicap - though the oversize model may be quite playable for them.

The Good: Absolute total confidence that a good swing will bring the desired result because the club will deliver. These clubs look good and feel good and produce what they promise.

The Bad: They are not going to give you much help on bad swings, and in fact, may expose some swing flaws that others do not. High handicappers would be better off with a more forgiving set. Also, lofted pretty high so you may lose some distance from this set compared to others you have hit.

Overall: The highest compliment I can give a set of clubs is to carry it in my bag. These are what I hit. 'Nuff said.
